Arctic Transect
Casey and Riley are dropped by bush plane deep in the remote Alaskan wilderness of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, beginning a 100-mile, point-to-point expedition across the North Slope. Over the course of two weeks, they’ll travel on foot from the Brooks Range to the Arctic Ocean, carrying everything they need and navigating one of the most remote landscapes in North America. Along the way, they’ll follow the movements of migrating caribou and search for grizzly bears, wolves, and musk ox, before reaching the coast and attempting to track down polar bears returning to land after spending the winter hunting seals on the sea ice. But this expedition is about more than adventure and wildlife. It’s a journey into a landscape at the center of one of America’s biggest conservation debates, where the possibility of oil development could transform a place that has remained largely untouched. By experiencing the Arctic on foot and documenting the wildlife, wilderness, and extraordinary scale of this place, Casey and Riley hope to show the world what’s at stake—and why wild places like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge are worth protecting.
Africa Transect
